Welcome to The Centre for Eastern European Democracy (CEED)

Core Purpose

To advance democracy in Eastern Europe and elsewhere

Mission Statement

The Centre for Eastern European Democracy (CEED) is dedicated to advancing democracy in Eastern Europe while supporting the renewal of democracy across Western Europe and North America. Our mission is to promote democratic values by curating, producing, and disseminating reliable, high-impact content that informs political leaders, opinion makers, and media stakeholders. By amplifying voices and ideas that support democratic governance and counter authoritarian disinformation, CEED strives to strengthen open societies and uphold the universal human rights standards set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and similar legislation elsewhere.

Vision Statement

The Centre for Eastern European Democracy envisions a world where democracy is defended with clarity, truth, and resolve—both in countries under attack, like Ukraine, and in Western democracies where core institutions are increasingly under strain.
In an era marked by disinformation, extremism, and democratic backsliding, CEED serves as a
trusted source of truthful, clearly communicated information. Our work supports a revitalized
democratic alliance.

Core Values

1. Democracy at Home and Abroad

We believe the health of global democracy depends equally on resisting authoritarian aggression
abroad and addressing democratic decline within established Western institutions.

2. Truth, Clarity, and Accuracy

In a time of deliberate distortion, CEED is committed to presenting facts truthfully, clearly, and
responsibly. We uphold rigorous standards of credibility to ensure that democratic discourse is
grounded in evidence, not propaganda.

3. Solidarity with Ukraine

Ukraine is the frontline of today’s global struggle for democracy. CEED champions its
sovereignty, resilience, and democratic aspirations as vital not only to Eastern Europe but to the
democratic world order.

4. Western Leadership and Renewal

Democracy needs principled leadership. CEED supports the democratic renewal of the United
States, Canada, and European allies to ensure they remain credible defenders of freedom and
dignity on the global stage.

5. Strategic Communication

We prioritize the timely and concise dissemination of high-impact content to political
leaders, journalists, and opinion influencers who shape democratic outcomes. CEED makes
complex issues accessible and actionable.

6. Partnership and Inclusion

We collaborate across borders, cultures, and disciplines. From political figures and academics to
journalists and civic leaders, we amplify the voices that matter most in sustaining democracy.

7. Integrity and Sustainability

CEED is committed to transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency. We seek
sustainable funding and sound governance to ensure long-term impact.

Social Action and Networking

CEED serves as a junction where leaders of various nationalities can meet. From time to time, the centre provides leadership and effective communication training, particularly to students from Eastern Europe studying at colleges and universities in the West, and when resources allow, also selects leaders to invite from Eastern Europe to meet in the form of seminars and workshops hosted by the Centre.
